The U.S. Tennis Association is the primary league. In order to play adult USTA leagues.

A USTA yearly membership is $44 a year and can be purchased online.

Each time USTA does  a 5-6 week league, you will pay a league fee to USTA.  (about $28)

You will need an NTRP rating in order to play. Talk to Kevin or Sarah prior to doing a self rate on the USTA website.

If you play at the Yarbrough Tennis Center (YTC) and are not a member, you’ll pay a $5 clay court fee when you check in.   Consider becoming a member of YTC.

Kevin Fitchner is hired by USTA to run the leagues. His email is [email protected]. His cell phone is 334-538-6526

If you are interested in playing USTA, email Kevin and cc Sarah Hill at [email protected]. We will need your email, cell phone number and your level. It also helps to have your age: 18 and over, 40 and over, 55 and over or 65 and over.

Most league matches are played at the Yarbrough Tennis Center, but if there is an Opelika team or a Moores Mill team, they can have some home matches. During league play (not a weekend tournament) there is no limit to the number of players from outside of Alabama.

Our goal at YTC is to get people to play more tennis — that includes league for some.

General league times

  • March/April: Adult leagues (straight rating league)
  • May/June: Tri level (same team has ex. 3.0/3.5/4.0 players)
  • June/July: Mixed leagues (male/female)
  • Aug/Sept: Combo (doubles — ex 3.0 player and a 3.5 player are playing 7.5 league)
  • Fall: Another adult league (straight rating league)

Winners of the leagues above have the opportunity to go to the state tournament.

** Kevin will also run some FLEX leagues where results don’t count against your rating**
