The architectural and engineering design for Phase 1 is currently underway. At present, the tentative timeline is as follows:
- October – Architectural and engineering design begins (9 months).
- July 2017 – Project is bid.
- September 2017 – Construction begins.
- May 2019 – Construction completed and occupancy (20 months).
At some point in the future, City staff will initiate further discussions on future phases with community leaders and the residents of Auburn. It is also anticipated that the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Master Plan, CompPlan 2030 update and Auburn 2040 initiatives will provide additional guidance for the future of this important complex. In the meantime, Phase 1 will provide a long-term solution for Public Safety divisions and Auburn’s Municipal Court, ensuring City employees can continue to provide excellent services to our residents in the manner they expect and from a facility of which they can be proud.
