2017 will be the 61st consecutive year the League of American Bicyclists has declared May to be National Bike Monthâ„¢. In support of the League, the City of Auburn promoted Bike-to-Work Week May 15-19 with Bike-to-Work day being Friday, May 19 and issued a personal challenge for Bike-to-School Day on Wednesday, May 10.

Here are a few of the events that took place during 2017 Bike Month:

  • May 2, 2017 at 11:30 am, the public was invited to join the Auburn Bicycle Committee at City Hall when Mayor Ham proclaimed May as National Bike Month.
  • May 5, 4:00 pm - "Cinco de Biko" - The Grand Opening Ride on Opelika's new Destination Bike Path, led by Mayor Fuller .

  • May 10 - "Bike to School Day" – Auburn students who ride their bike to school in the participating schools of OES and Pick will get to participate in an ice cream social as a special thank you for making the commute by bike.
  • May 11, 6:30 pm - "Cruise and Brews" - James Brothers Bike Shop hosted a short public ride and returned to the shop for social time afterwards.

Do you know how many people participated in Bike to Work/School Day? That might be good to post on here, or pics from that little Italy night
