Samford Pickleball and Tennis Courts now open sunrise to set

Samford Pickleball and Tennis Courts are now open from sunrise to sunset. Light installation has not been completed but is expected to be finished early next week. All but two courts are available for play during daytime hours. For player safety, nets have been removed from the two courts that are currently not playable. Another release will be issued once lights are operational.

Yarbrough Tennis Center Celebrates National Tennis Month with FREE programs

Did you know May is National Tennis Month? Yarbrough Tennis Center will host four free events during the month of may. Events are FREE but Registration is required.

  • Cardio Tennis Class Wed May 15 6pm – 7pm Register by May 14th. Loaner racquets available. Register online.
  • Racket Demo Day sponsored by Babolat Sat., May 18 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. Register by May 17.

Spring Sundown Concert Series Continues Thursday, May 16

Join Auburn Parks and Recreation for an evening of music and fun at the 2024 Spring Sundown Concert Series at beautiful Kiesel Park. Every Thursday May 9 through May 30 from 6-7:30 p.m. enjoy music in the park. Bring your lawn chair, blanket, and come and enjoy great music. Food and sweet treats will be available for purchase from the Chill Spot. Pets on a leash are welcome. FREE to the Public. The dates are May 9, 16, 23 and 30.

Lee County Special Olympians to Participate in the Special Olympics State Games

Lee County Special Olympics will have 40 athletes participating in the Special Olympics State Games in Troy, Alabama Friday May 17 through Sunday May 19.  These athletes will participate in track and field, aquatics, golf and Bowling.  The torch for the State Games will be arriving in Auburn close to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 16. If you would like to view the torch run arrive at Auburn Police Department on North Ross Street at 12:30 p.m. This is a great send off to all the participating athletes and to support our local law enforcement who support Special Olympics.

City Market returns beginning Sat., May 18 Town Creek Park

We're thrilled to announce that City Market is back for the summer of 2024! Join us on Saturdays from May 18th to August 24th at Town Creek Park, starting bright and early at 8am until 11am. Don't worry about parking - we've got you covered with parking available in the gravel lot across from Town Creek Park. Just a heads up, vendors will start selling their amazing products at 8am sharp. Come on out and enjoy live music, fun activities for the kids, and of course, an array of fresh, local, and handcrafted items to browse and purchase. Can't wait to see you there!

Tournaments at Auburn Parks and Rec. Facilities May 17-19

ISSA Southern National Adult Slow Pitch Softball will have a tournament Friday, May 17 through Sunday, May 19. Yarbrough Tennis Center will host the USTA Level 5 Summer Adult NTPR Saturday, May 18 through Sunday May 19. This tournament are scheduled to take place. Tournaments may be canceled due to weather. Make sure to check with the tournament director for all details.

The 2024 Auburn Parks and Recreation Summer Program Registration Going on now

The 2024 Auburn Parks and Recreation Summer Brochure is now available. Visit auburnalabama.org/parks to view the brochure online. Printed brochures are available at Parks and Recreation facilities, the Auburn Public Library and Auburn City Hall.

Online registration for 2024 summer programs will begin Monday, May 6. To set up an account and register, visit auburnal.myrec.com.

SummerNight Downtown Art Walk set for Fri., June 7 Downtown Auburn

The SummerNight Downtown Art Walk, hosted by the City of Auburn / Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center, Auburn Arts Association, the Auburn Downtown Merchants Association and St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church is almost here! Make plans to come downtown for an art-filled evening of fun on Friday, June 7, from 6-10 p.m. SummerNight is a FREE downtown entertainment district event.

An Artist Marketplace, live music, late-night shopping and dining as well as children’s activities are just some of the fun features SummerNight has to offer. In addition to all of the great activities, the community has the opportunity to participate in a Guacamole culinary contest. All culinary entries are due on Friday, June 7, from 8 -11 a.m. at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center located at 222 E. Drake Ave. Auburn AL 36830. Winners will be announced at 7:15 p.m. on the SummerNight stage located at Toomer’s Corner.

This year, SummerNight is excited to welcome the band Sail On. This Beach Boys tribute band is ready to bring Good Vibrations to Auburn while paying homage to one of the greatest bands in history.

Please note that College Street (from Thach Avenue to Tichenor Avenue) and Magnolia Avenue (from Wright Street to Gay Street) will be closed to traffic from 5:15 to 10:30 p.m. for the downtown event.

Auburn Parks and Recreation accepting reservation request online

Auburn Parks and Recreation is now accepting facility and park reservation requests online. Those who wish to reserve a facility, athletic facility, or park pavilion can complete their application for request using their online account at auburnal.myrec.com.

Please make all requests at least two weeks prior to the desired reservation date in order to leave time for the approval process. Requests must be reviewed and approved by the facility director and department director. Once approved, payments can be made online using a credit card or by cash or check in-person at the Harris Center.

Frank Brown Recreation Center Membership Card Required to play racquetball and free basketball

Auburn Parks and Recreation now requires membership cards for free play basketball and racquetball.

Free play basketball and racquetball at Frank Brown Recreation Center are open free of charge to citizens who live, work or attend school within the city limits of Auburn, AL and to non-citizens for a one-time $30.00 fee. A membership must be acquired for free play basketball and racquetball regardless of age. Replacement cards will cost $30.00 regardless of residency. The membership card is non-transferable and can only be used by the card holder. You must be at least 13 years of age to participate in free play basketball and 15 years of age to participate in racquetball. Children ages 13-18 must have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian at the time of application.

Memberships can be obtained at the Harris Center Mon. – Fri. 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. To view a membership application, including a list of acceptable proof of residency documents, visit auburnalabama.org/parks.

Frank Brown Recreation Center is open Mon. – Fri. 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Sat. 8 a.m.-11 a.m. and Sun. 1-5 p.m. The Frank Brown Recreation Center is located at 235 Opelika Road. For more information call 334-501-2962.
