The 2000 Census measured
an increase of over 9,000 in Auburn's population since 1990. According
to state law, Auburn's City Manager
must respond to rising population
and shifting population densities by presenting a voting ward
redistricting plan to the City
Council. Redistricting helps to ensure
that all individuals in Auburn are adequately and accurately
represented in elections throughout this first decade of the 21st
century.
The map below shows the
results of redistricting based on the 2000 Census. This current
redistricting map was used for the 2002 election in the City of
Auburn, and represents the districts of the sitting City Council.
For more information on
redistricting, please click the links provided below and read the City
Council Agenda, published on the web on the Friday prior to each council meeting.
