2008 ASA Women's 23u FP National

GENERAL INFORMATION

 

A.   AWARDS:

Awards will be given to the top 4 teams.

Individual awards will be given to the champion and runner-up teams and 1st and 2nd  team All American.  Travel fund to top four teams.

 

B.   FORMAT:

The tournament will follow a double elimination format after 2 exposure games for each team.

 

C.   UNIFORMS:

All Players must compete in accordance with Rule 3, Section 6.  Uniform of the 2008 ASA Official Rules of Softball.

 

D.   LINE-UPS:

Line-up cards will be provided for each team. An official line-up must be submitted to the scorer's table, located behind Field 5, at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled game time.

 

E.    GAME TIMES:

Please follow the times listed on the tournament bracket. Game time is forfeit time. Teams should be prepared to start a game once the preceding game is completed. No time limit on any games.

 

F.    INFIELD PRACTICE:

No infield practice will be permitted. Warm-up is allowed in designated areas only. Teams may warm-up in the outfield if time permits.  Teams may schedule practices for Wednesday until 9pm and Thursday until 3pm.

 

G.   BENCH AREA:

Only players and coaches are allowed in the dugouts. No Children.
 

H.   PROTESTS:

The tournament committee will decide all protests. As manager, please be familiar with rules of the game, including proper protest procedures.  See Rule 9, Protests of the 2008 ASA Official Rules of Softball.

 

I.     RUN RULE:

Refer to Rule 5, The Game, Section9, Run Ahead Rule of the 2008 ASA Official Rules of Softball.

 

J.     RAIN DELAY:

In the event of rain or any cause, which interrupts a game, the game must be resumed at the exact point where it stopped. It is the team manager's responsibility to check with tournament staff as to when games will resume or be rescheduled.  Coaches should give a cell number to tournament staff at check in.

 

K.   HOME TEAM:

The home team will be determined by a coin toss 30 minutes before game time. Coaches need to meet at the scorer's table for the coin toss.

 

L.    TEAM SEATING:

The home team will sit in the first base dugout. The visiting team will sit in the third base dugout.

 

M.  OFFICIAL GAME BALL:

Game balls will be provided by Worth Sports, Inc.

 

N.   GAME RULES:

All rules and regulations for the tournament will be governed by the 2008 ASA Official Guide and Rule Book.

 

O.  CONDUCT:

Managers and coaches are asked to have complete control of their players on and off the field. Any report of hotel damage shall subject the team to suspension or other appropriate action.

 

P.   ELIGIBILITY:

Please see the 2008 ASA Guide for clarifications and interpretations.

 

Q.  PLAYER PASSES:

All players on the roster and 3 managers will receive passes. All participants must have a pass to gain entrance to the softball complex. Participants without player passes will be required to pay daily admission. Passes will be distributed at the team check-in.

 

R.   SOUVENIRS:

Souvenirs will be available throughout the tournament. There will be a variety of tournament souvenirs available for purchase.

 

S.    ADMISSION:

Daily gate admission will be charged as follows:

Adults: $6.00/daily or $20/Tournament Pass

Students: $4.00/daily or $12/Tournament Pass

Children under 7 admitted free

 

T.   ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES/PETS:

No alcoholic beverages may be brought into the complex. No pets are allowed inside the complex.

 

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION

 

The average temperature in Auburn in August is highs in the 90's and lows in the 70's. Shorts and short sleeves are usually comfortable, yet during the evening you may want a light jacket.

The charm of a historic community and the excitement of a busy city are both found in Auburn. Whether searching for a vacation spot filled with activity or a getaway to relax for a weekend, you'll find Auburn an enchanting place to visit. In Auburn you can join the cheering crowds at a sports event as one of Auburn University's 20 NCAA Division 1A teams competes for a conference title. You can also test your own athletic skills on any of the areas 6 challenging golf courses, including the acclaimed Robert Trent Jones courses at Grand National.

Outdoor activity abounds at Chewacla State Park with its miles of hiking trails and attractive lake for swimming, boating, and fishing. In the summer, the wave pool and water rides at Surfside Water Park offer families relief from the hot Southern sun.

Those looking for a day of leisure can walk along the downtown streets, peak through shop windows and visit the restaurants and coffee houses of the historic business districts. In the spring, azaleas and dogwoods line the streets, adding beautiful colors to the turn-of-the-century neighborhoods. Remarkable museums, beautiful bed and breakfasts and a calendar full of special events bring even more entertainment to this lively city.
