Construction Bulletin

New Traffic Signal at South College Street and Woodfield Drive

Auburn, Ala. - The City of Auburn has installed a new traffic signal at the intersection of South College Street and Woodfield Drive. Installation of the light was previously authorized by the Auburn City Council, pending the City's receipt of possession of portions of road along College Street from the State of Alabama.

The new signal will begin operating in flash mode Friday, September 26 to allow motorists to become accustomed to the new traffic conditions. Beginning Wednesday, October 1, the signal will be fully operational. Motorists are urged to exercise caution when driving in the area.
For more information, please contact the City of Auburn Public Works Department at 501-3000.

Dean Road Work to Continue through November 7

Auburn, Ala. - Improvements along the stretch of Dean Road between Glenn Avenue and Annalue Drive will continue through November 7. Construction has been delayed as non-electrical utility providers work to remove cable and utility poles from the work zone. Upon relocation of the utility poles, crews will resume street, curb & gutter, and sidewalk repairs, in addition to resurfacing work. Citizens should expect periodic lane closures between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. each day. At times it may be necessary to reduce traffic to one lane in the north and southbound lanes. Motorists are asked to exercise caution when driving in the area and be alert for flagmen directing traffic. Please seek alternate routes if possible.

Improvements along Dean Road consist of adding a center left turn lane at the intersection of Dean Road and Harper Avenue and lane work that will better align the road at the intersection of Dean and Harper. The intersection realignment will allow for a wider turn radius. In addition, Dean Road will be resurfaced from Glenn Avenue to Opelika Road.

Citizens are encouraged to visit the City of Auburn's website at www.auburnalabama.org to view the latest news on street closings so they may adjust their routes accordingly.

For more information, please contact David Ponder with the City of Auburn Public Works Department at 501-3000.
