About Auburn City Pools
The Auburn Parks and Recreation Department maintains two pools for public use: Drake Pool and Samford Pool. A number of aquatics programs are offered at the pools during the summer months, including swimming & scuba lessons, water workouts and youth swimming & diving teams.
Daily admission is $2 per person. Children 1 & under are free. Splash Passes (season passes) may be purchased at the Harris Center (Auburn Parks and Recreation's administrative office) on weekdays from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. The Harris Center is located at 425 Perry Street. Individual Splash Passes are $50 each or $125 for a family pass. Splash Passes are valid for immediate family members, including parents or guardians, and children under the age of 19, residing in the same household, or the primary caregiver for the minor children.
Aquatic Facility Operator Course
Auburn Parks and Recreation will be hosting the National Parks and Recreation Association's Aquatic Facility Operator Course on Thursday and Friday, March 9 and 10 at the Harris Center. The Aquatic Facility Operator course provides participants with the skills necessary to run a safe and efficient aquatic facility.
The course is a 2-day instructor-led program where candidates will learn about the most important mechanical, chemical, operational and risk management aspects of all pool and waterpark facilities. Topics covered include, but are not limited to:
Filtration and disinfection
Water testing and treatment
Facility management and safety
Hot tub and spa operation
This national certification lasts for five years and is intended to create better operators, who in turn make safer, more appealing environments and increasingly efficient programs for aquatic venues.
Samford Pool is located behind Auburn Junior High School, 332 E. Samford Avenue. The pool can be accessed from Wrights Mill Road and the parking lot exits onto Samford Avenue. Samford Pool features three separate pool areas: the main pool, diving well (with diving boards: two high dive and two low dive), and a children's pool.
