Athletes are allowed to participate in two track and field events OR two track and field events plus one relay event. Teachers and Coaches: Please use the Track and Field Forms to submit your scores; the forms can be downloaded here. All forms should be mailed to Lee County Special Olympics, Attention: Alison Hall, 307 South Dean Road, Auburn, AL, 36830, faxed to 334-501-2960, or dropped off at Dean Road Recreation Center in Auburn. Also, remember to submit t-shirt sizes for all of your athletes if you have not already done so. Scores are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 28th.

^top of page*All T-Shirt Orders are Past Due:
T-Shirt order forms were due on Friday, February 15th at 5 p.m. We cannot guarantee t-shirts at this point; however, we will still take orders up until Friday, March 28th in case we can order additional shirts. So, if your classroom missed out, or you want a t-shirt for your parent or siblings, let us know before FRIDAY! If you need a t-shirt form, please contact Amanda or Erica at 334-501-2930. Remember Each athlete, teacher and coach participating will receive a FREE T-shirt. (Please limit 2 Teacher T-Shirts per class.) Parents, friends and supporters can purchase a t-shirt for $10.00 each.

Dont miss out on the chance to watch our local Special Olympic
gymnasts compete in their first-ever regional meet on Friday, March
28th. Opening Ceremonies start at 10 a.m. and the
competition will start at 10:15 a.m. The meet will be held at
Premier Athletics, which is located at 923-B Stage Road, Auburn,
AL. Stop by and cheer on our local athletes to victory!

We would like to recognize our outstanding coaches and athletes from the Lee County area. The criteria for Outstanding Coach and Outstanding Athlete are listed below:Outstanding Coach:
For the special educator, physical educator, coach or volunteer who, as a Special Olympics coach in any official Special Olympics sport (who trains and works with Special Olympics athletes on a regular basis), best demonstrates the high degree of technical skill and commitment needed to motivate and train athletes.
Technical knowledge of sports skills and teaching methods
Commitment to offering training
Leadership ability in group setting
Involvement with athletes in Local, Area and Program level competitions
Involvement with family members
Indications that coach has been an advocate of Special Olympics Alabama
Participation in Training Schools
Outstanding Athlete of the Year:
For the Special Olympics Athlete, who epitomizes the spirit of a true winner by his or her willingness to help others and give his or her very best while displaying outstanding courage and sportsmanship (both on and off the field) of athletic competition.
Participation in a training club program
Participation at Local, Area, Program or International games
Demonstrates extra effort to overcome difficult obstacles
Demonstrates leadership ability by serving as an assistant coach, volunteering on a committee, etc.
Demonstrates a mature attitude toward responsibility
Please keep the above criteria in mind when submitting all nominations. Nomination forms can be downloaded here or can be picked up at Dean Road Recreation Center in Auburn. Please submit all nominations by Friday, April 4, 2008.
