City of Auburn's Downtown Trick-or-Treat to be held Oct. 29 Auburn, Ala. - Mayor Bill Ham, Jr. has declared that Trick-or-Treat
activities should be held on Thursday, Oct. 29 from 6 - 8 p.m. only. Auburn
Police will provide extra patrol in the City for children and their parents or
guardians during this time.
The City of Auburn Parks & Recreation Department will host the 9th Annual
Downtown Trick-or-Treat on Thursday, Oct. 29 from 6 - 8 p.m. in downtown Auburn.
Downtown Trick-or-Treat is an excellent alternative to door-to-door
Trick-or-Treating, so bring your monsters, clowns, warriors and princesses to
the best party in town! All Trick-or-Treat activities are for children 12 and
younger, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
This year's Halloween festivities will feature a variety of free activities for
children of all ages to enjoy. The event will include live musical entertainment
featuring the Auburn University Steel Drum Band, goodies and treats given out by
participating downtown merchants, a costume contest and more. Don't miss your
chance to enter the Best Costume Contest. Bring your favorite four-legged friend
and enter them for a chance to win the Best Pet Costume Contest.
Participating downtown merchants will have an "Official Monster Merchant" poster
in the window. Downtown Trick-or-Treaters are encouraged to visit businesses
with the official poster.
This year's event will include the 1st Carve a Bite Out of Hunger Food Drive,
benefitting the East Alabama Food Bank. Citizens are encouraged to bring a
non-perishable food item. Collection bins will be placed throughout downtown.
Due to high volumes of traffic and the large influx of fans during Auburn
University home football weekends, the date change in Halloween activities is
necessary in order to provide the maximum number of police patrols for the
safety of Auburn's children. Downtown streets are subject to closure during the
event. Please visit our website at
www.auburnalabama.org for the latest information on street closings. For
more information, or if your business or organization would like to participate
in the Downtown Trick or Treat program, please contact the City of Auburn Parks
and Recreation Department at 501-2930.
