6th Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day Saturday, April 19

Auburn, Ala. - The City of Auburn Environmental Services Department will host the 6th Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, April 19 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Environmental Services Complex, located at 365-A North Donahue Drive. This annual events offers Auburn residents the opportunity to safely dispose of hazardous household chemicals. The City has contracted with Clean Harbors Environmental Services, Inc. to manage the collection and disposal of chemicals collected during the event.

Participation in Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is limited to Auburn residential solid waste service customers only. No farm, commercial, or industrial waste, please. Residents are asked to bring a recent water bill to demonstrate proof of residency.

Participants are asked to limit the amount of material they submit for disposal to 20 lbs per household, with individual containers limited to 5 gallons each. Larger amounts must be pre-approved. During the event, the City will also collect computers and related equipment for recycling. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is a rain or shine event. All City residential waste customers are encouraged to participate. Cesspool cleaners Oil based paint Solvents
Creosote Old chemistry sets Transmission fluid
Drain cleaners Oven cleaners Used engine oil
Engine & radiator flushes Paint thinner Wood strippers
Floor cleaners Pesticides  
Herbicides Photo chemicals  

The following items will not be accepted:

Ammunition Large quantities of unknown materials
Explosives Radioactive waste, including smoke detectors
Fire extinguishers (pressurized) Substances regulated by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)
Flares Unknown gas cylinders
Gunpowder Unstable wastes
