One of the City of Auburn's most recognizable landmarks, Toomer's Corner is at the intersection of College Street and Magnolia Avenue in the heart of the City of Auburn. With Toomer's Drugs, an Auburn landmark since 1896, facing what has since 1856 been the anchoring corner of Auburn’s campus, Toomer's Corner is the nexus of campus and city life.
For the duration of the construction taking place at Toomer's Corner, we have replaced our Toomer's Corner camera with this new view; our Toomer's Corner Construction Camera. Construction should be completed by August 16th at which time we will return to the live view from our Toomer's Corner camera.
The Corner Construction will renovate the Toomer's Corner intersection, raising it to match the elevation of the sidewalks for downtown events. New crosswalks and a permanent tiger paw design will be created using pavers, and new street trees and brick seat walls will be added on the sidewalks around the intersection. Sidewalk improvements will provide better pedestrian access at each corner and new decorative traffic signal poles will enhance the look and lighting of the intersection.
Throughout the construction process, downtown businesses and restaurants will remain open for business. Please continue to visit downtown Auburn throughout the summer. Construction updates will be posted at http://www.auburnalabama.org/cornerconstruction and on the city's social media feeds using the #cornerconstruction hashtag.
