  • Is there a typewriter available for public use?

Library patrons may use the typewriter that is located in the Electronic Services teaching lab. Please ask Electronic Services staff for assistance.

  • Do you accept credit cards? Debit cards? Checks?

We accept cash and checks. Please make checks out to the City of Auburn.

  • Does the library have a wireless connection for laptops?

Yes. Library patrons may use laptops with wireless capability to connect to AuburnWeb.  There is no password needed.

  • There are signs posted in the library that no food or drinks are allowed. Why is this rule in place?

We have been entrusted by the public with millions of dollars of resources. Keeping food and drink outside of the building prevents accidents that could damage materials. When materials are checked out from the library, the safety of the materials becomes the responsibility of the person checking them out.

  • Do you have archived copies of newspapers?

We keep the Opelika-Auburn News for one month and other newspapers for one week. Older newspapers are available at the Auburn University library.

  • Do you have archived copies of magazines?

We have bound copies of older Consumer Reports. We keep magazines for one year under the magazine display shelf. Most magazines are available online through the Alabama Virtual Library. We'll be happy to assist you in locating requested articles.

  • Do you have a room for meetings?

No, but there are study tables within the library where small groups may talk softly.

  • Can you give me a printout of the books I have checked out recently?

Once library items have been returned, our computer system does not keep a record of items that patrons have checked out. This is part of our compliance with laws to protect the privacy of our patrons.

  • Where is the restroom?

Restrooms and complimentary phones are located to the right when you enter the building. Restrooms are also located in the Youth Services area behind the Help desk.
