critical environmental areas

sidewalk development and traffic calming measures
ensure that sidewalks can accommodate pedestrian and non-motorized
vehicular traffic, and that they are coordinated appropriately with existing

In accordance with the
Mission Statement of the City of Auburn
(adopted in 1995), the Greenspace Advisory Board encourages planned and managed growth as a
means of developing an attractive built-in environment and protecting and
conserving the City's natural resources.
In accordance with the
Growth Boundary Plan for the City of Auburn
(released in March 2000), the Greenspace Advisory Board helps with the creation of neighborhoods that encourage walking and bicycling and aids in the
preservation of greenspace, natural beauty, historic buildings, and critical environmental areas.
More recent information is available in the Auburn Land Use
Plan (adopted by the City Council in October 2004) - information about
greenways and greenspace can be seen in pp. 68-70 of
Part III of this plan. However, even though the Growth Boundary
Plan is somewhat outdated, its principles still apply to the duties of the
Greenspace Advisory Board today.
