What should I do if I have a problem with mosquitoes around my home?
The resident should contact our office for further information. For isolated problems, a property evaluation is scheduled with the
resident in order to allow us to assess the situation determine the intricacies that may be involved. For wide-spread mosquito problems, the
city's truck-mounted sprayer may be utilized. If it is determined that the truck-mounted sprayer is necessary, ample notice will be provided
to alert the affected area to the impending spray schedule. This is typically done via signage placed at stop signs, intersections, etc.
within the respective area on the morning prior to the scheduled spray event. Spraying is historically done during the late evening/night
hours in an attempt to maximize the effect on the mosquito population while minimizing the effect on humans.
NOTE: The city's integrated mosquito program is coordinated with assistance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Auburn
University's Entomology and Plant Pathology Department.
