Established in 1984, the Economic Development Department promotes balanced economic growth through housing programs and
commercial and industrial projects.
The City's housing efforts are directed at aiding low to moderate income citizens through a variety of programs such as the
Affordable Housing Program and mortgage subsidies from the Revolving Loan Fund (RLF). The RLF is also used to promote quality
commercial projects that improve the City's tax base and bring employment opportunities to citizens.
The City's investment in industrial development has produced over 4,000 manufacturing jobs and nearly $244 million in capital
investment since 1975. A large portion of the growth in manufacturing employment has taken place since the completion of
Auburn Technology Park South in 1994.
