The Auburn Bicycle Committee is an organization designed to assist the City Government with the planning of bicycle related projects. We are not an open forum advocacy organization. However, we do know some. Our advocacy section of this website will direct you to those groups. Our bicycle resources are diverse in their content and purpose. We have links to many other cycling related organizations. If you look in the Advocacy section, you will find them with a website link if one is available.

Are you curious about the state and local laws as they apply to cyclists? Do you need to know how to properly fit your child's helmet? Do you want to learn the rules of a multi-use path? All of this information and MUCH, MUCH more can be found in the Safety section of this site. We are continually working to make Auburn a safer place for cyclists of all ages. We even have a LAB certified Bicycle Education Instructor on staff. If you are interested in a class on bicycle safety, please contact Brandy Ezelle at 501-3029.  

Shannon Fitzgerald - Why I Ride

Shannon Fitzgerald was a member of the 2006 Auburn Flyers University cycling team and competed in the National Collegiate Cycling Association (NCCA) competition in Lawrence, Kansas. 2006 was Shannon's first season to race road bikes; previously she trained and competed as a triathlete. Shannon had 8 top 3 finishes this season and is currently ranked #1 in the Southeastern Collegiate Cycling Conference (SECCC).

During her first race of the season and in her first criterium ever, she fell and broke her collarbone in the sprint of the first race. However, Shannon came back two weeks later to compete and placed second in her competition. Shannon is a senior in the College of Veterinary Medicine and is originally from Palisades, New York. A fun fact about Shannon - she biked across the United States in 1997.
