Of course, the Auburn Bicycle Committee is not the only group of cycling enthusiasts in the
Southeast Region, Alabama, or even Auburn itself!
The City of Auburn partnered with Auburn University to bring Auburn residents WaCaDa!, a public safety awareness
campaign aimed at bicycle, pedestrian, and motor vehicle safety. WaCaDa! is designed to promote public safety,
awareness, and a mutual respect of the road and safety rules. WaCaDa! is ultimately designed to remind all modes of
transportation that we all Walk and Cycle and Drive alike in the loveliest village on the plains.
With WaCaDa's slogan, the campaign introduces a new set of the three Rs: "Respect, Relate, Remind". The WaCaDa!
website has valuable safety and legal information for all roadway users.
The League of American Bicyclists is a group with a mission: "To promote bicycling for fun, fitness, and transportation and work through
advocacy and education for a bicycle-friendly America". The league has many key programs: the Bicycle Friendly Communities Program,
Bicycle Safety and Education, National Bike Month, and Advocacy on the national, state, and local levels.
The Auburn Flyers are the cycling team for Auburn University. They compete in races throughout the Southeast Region, with some
members going on to qualify for national races at the end of the season.
Their coach, Chad Rodekohr, is a Collegiate All-American whose love of the sport
helped him re-establish the team in 2001, after the Auburn Flyers had floundered without active support and
guidance. Be sure to support our
Auburn Flyers!
