The City Council, at its January 21, 2003 meeting, adopted a plan for eight separate voting districts for the City election in August 2006. This plan will remain in effect until the 2014 Municipal election. At its November 1, 2011 meeting, the City Council adopted a new plan, as required by State and Federal law after the 2010 Census. The new plan will go into effect for the 2014 Municipal election. These plans have been approved by the United States Department of Justice.
