Letter from the President

Dear Parents / Guardians:
On behalf of the Auburn Dixie Youth Baseball/Softball Association, we welcome you to the upcoming season. We have been working hard in the off season to make sure the 2008 season will be enjoyable and productive for both parents and children.

Please read the entire newsletter to be aware of events and dates for the upcoming 2008 season. This coming year we are trying to encourage everyone to use the online registration available to better streamline the registration process. This year we will continue to offer a discount for registering your child online. For your convenience, online registration will begin February 1st and end at midnight on February 10th. Walk-in registration is scheduled for Saturday, February 9th from 9am-Noon at Dean Road Recreation Center. Tryout information will be available online and at the walk-in registration.

Lastly, I would like to thank our parents, sponsors, coaches, commissioners, player agents, and the City of Auburn who made 2007 a successful year for all who participated in last year's baseball and softball leagues. As your association president, I will work hard to ensure the 2008 Dixie Youth Baseball/Softball season is enjoyable and instructive for all involved.

See You At The Park!
Stephen Naughton
Auburn Dixie Baseball/Softball Association Board President

REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION
Boys & girls ages 5 - 18 are eligible to register. Birth certificates are required for each child. If one is not on file with Auburn Parks & Recreation, please bring a copy to registration. Player must reside within the league boundaries. (Opelika, Beauregard, Smiths, Tuskegee, Notasulga, and Dadeville all surround the Auburn area and have baseball programs. Those who live in the boundaries of a franchised league must register with that league.) Non-residents who qualify for the program will be allowed to sign up after a set time for residents @ 50% more. Anyone with questions concerning this policy should inquire with Jarrett Jones or Steve Dickerson, Player Agents, BEFORE registering at 501-2930.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Applications for financial assistance will be taken through the Community Development at Auburn City Hall, 144 Tichenor Avenue. Call Ashley Thomas at 501-5278 to setup an appointment before Feb. 9.

REFUNDS
Refunds will be given only when a person cancels prior to tryouts. The administrative office (501-2930) must be notified in order to receive a refund.

TRYOUTS
Tryout information for each league will be available at registration.

Updates for 2008

Please note the following 3 updates:

  • We are encouraging everyone to use the online registration to expedite team formation and to speed up the process so we can start the season on time. In doing so, we are offering a discount for everyone who uses online versus walk-in registration.
  • We are continuing the Earl Wray Sportsmanship Award for coaches in the 9-12 year old baseball and softball leagues.
  • Due to the success of the Dixie Youth World Series in 2005, we now have funds available to help those in need of obtaining equipment needed to participate in Auburn Dixie Youth Baseball/Softball. Information is available at the Dean Road Recreation Center.
