Auburn, Ala. - Registration for Auburn CityKids, a free, community-based visual arts program for children ages 7 – 13, is going on now at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center (JDCAC). The Auburn CityKids program provides children with the opportunity to learn in an intellectually stimulating and creative environment while developing meaningful relationships with peers and mentors. The program, directed by Auburn University professor Chichi Lovett, is sponsored by Auburn Parks and Recreation, the Auburn Arts Association, and the Art Department at Auburn University.
Class will be held every Thursday from 4:15 - 5:30 p.m. at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center, beginning Thursday, Feb. 7. Participants should be registered by Friday, Dec. 21. Students from Professor Lovett's art education classes will assist with the program by providing one-on-one art activities with participating children. Class will not meet during spring break for Auburn University (March 11 - 15) and Auburn City Schools (March 25 - 29).
