Scale Back Alabama (SBA) is a FREE statewide weight loss contest designed to encourage Alabamians to adopt healthy lifestyle habits. Since its beginning in 2007, SBA has helped Alabamians lose more than 1 million pounds. The program begins with the initial week of weigh-ins January 18 - 24 and concludes with final weigh-ins April 5 - 11. To participate, adults ages 18 and up simply form four-person teams and weigh in and weigh out together as a team. During the course of the campaign, team members will receive weekly emails from SBA with tips and educational information on healthy eating, fitness, weight loss, and more. Teams are encouraged to select a team name and keep in regular contact with one another to stay motivated on their path to wellness.
