Auburn, Ala. - The Auburn Arts Association (AAA) has announced the winners of the 2013 Photo XV Juried Exhibition, hosted by the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center (JDCAC). The award recipients were announced at a reception on Friday, Nov. 1 at the JDCAC. The exhibition, featuring 28 juried photographs submitted by local and regional photographers, presents a wide variety of subject matter and photographic media.
The jurors of selection and awards were Mike Cortez, photographer and IT specialist at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, and William White, photojournalist and instructor at the School of Communication and Journalism at Auburn University.
Jurors chose eight merit award winners for special recognition, including David Cline, Avenley Horner, John Rhodenizer, Frank Uhlig, Victor Harris, Bryan Peters, Edna Phelan, and Christy Stanfield. All works will be on display for the public through Friday, Nov. 22. Patrons are encouraged to view the exhibit and vote for their favorite photograph. The gallery is open weekdays from 8 a.m . - 5 p.m. Group tours are available. Contact the Arts Center at 334-501-2963 to schedule a tour.
