The Foundation Center -- The purpose of this organization is to support philanthropy and help those seeking grants succeed. The Center gathers information on philanthropy, researches trends, provides education in grant seeking, and provides access to its information via an Internet home page.
GovLoans.gov -- Search for loans for agriculture, business, disaster relief, education, housing, and veterans. Also available in Spanish.
GrantSmart.org -- This database currently contains 646,923 tax returns filed by 105,629 private foundations and charitable trusts, allowing nonprofits and grant writers to examine what projects these organizations typically fund.
Guidestar.org -- Information on the programs and finances of more than 850,000 American IRS-registered 501(c)nonprofit organizations that may accept tax-deductible contributions. Search for an organization by keyword or name, activity, city, state, zip code, nonprofit type, revenue range, employer identification number, or NTEE code. The site also maintains resources for nonprofits and for donors.
Idealist.org: The Nonprofit FAQ -- This site publishes a question and answer forum dealing with many issues of concern to those involved with nonprofit organizations. Topics addressed range from tax exemptions to getting the assistance of celebrities in support of your cause. There is also a library featuring documents of interest to those learning about nonprofits.
National Council of Nonprofit Associations -- NCNA links local organizations to a national audience through state associations and helps small and midsize nonprofits manage and lead more effectively; collaborate and exchange solutions; engage in critical policy issues affecting the sector; and achieve greater impact in their communities.
Nonprofit Good Practice Guide -- This site offers articles, standards of practice, resources, and glossaries for nonprofit management. Topics include fundraising and financial stability, governance, staff development and organizational capacity, accountability and evaluation, volunteer management, communications and marketing, management and leadership, advocacy, and technology.
SchoolGrants.org -- This site has resources for locating, writing, receiving, and managing grant proposals for grades K-12. Extensive links are given to grant-related state and federal agencies as well as private foundations. There are tips for fundraising, school safety, technology, and financial aid.
